The Top Gun actor overtook funny actor Robin Williams for first place in a Mothering Sunday poll.
Showcase Cinemas asked 2,000 of them to choose the sexiest male actors of all time and their favorite movie.
Cruz, 60, received the most votes, while The Sound Of Music, starring Julie Andrews and released in 1965, took the title of most popular movie.
John Dixon, of Showcase Cinemas, said: ‘The Sound of Music came in at number one, but it was very tight with several classics making the top ten.

The Trilling Cruise star and Will Hunting Williams stars Tom Hanks, Patrick Swayze, Robert Redford, and John Wayne.
The second film was Titanic, followed by the ABBA musical Mamma Mia, Pretty Woman, Dirty Dancing and Gone With The Wind.
