Three postal workers in Pennsylvania, USA, are accused of theft

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (WTAJ) — Three Postal Service workers in the U.S. Pittsburgh area are facing charges of stealing mail and gift cards, according to the Department of Justice.

In separate affidavits from the US Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania, Adam Gallagher, 38, of Rochester, and Christina Ankeny, 39, of Braddock, are each accused of stealing mail while on the job. Additionally, India Schatzman, 47, of McKees Rocks, is accused of stealing a gift card from the mail.

A federal grand jury has indicted all three postal workers in Pittsburgh, according to Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

In the indictments, Gallagher was charged with stealing mail on October 19, 2022, while Ankney was charged with stealing mail on May 19, 2022. Schatzman is charged with stealing a gift card from the mail on December 30, 2022.

If found guilty, they could each face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Supervised release can also be issued for up to three years.

Assistant United States Attorney General Gregory C. Melucci will prosecute the Gallagher case while Assistant United States Attorney William P. Joapon will prosecute the Ankney and Schatzman cases.

The United States Postal Inspection Services conducted investigations into these alleged thefts that led to the three indictments.
