Australian actor Peter Hardy has been revealed as the victim who tragically drowned onremantle Beach last week at the age of 66.

Hardy, known for his roles in McLeod’s Daughters and Chopper, was taking a dip in South Beach on Thursday.

according to Western AustraliaHardy had flown to Perth from London to visit his mother.

His brother Michael shared the tragic news on social media onriday: “I am devastated to say that my brother Peter Hardy passed away suddenly this morning…Rest in peace my beloved little brother.”

Tributes began pouring in after the tragic news of Hardy’s death.

This news is heartbreaking shock. He shall be held in the wide arms of the ocean beside him, and in the hearts of all whom he has welcomed into his lively and ingenious orbit. Ross Anderson wrote his deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

His friend Andy Burns said: “On the morning of March 16th a dear friend was taken from us…the amazing and beautiful Peter Hardy drowned while snorkeling at South Beach Perth.”

He was 66 and looked like a Greek god, very fit, and very happy to be back in his native Western Australia on a visit from London where he made his home.

“Words cannot express how much I feel at this loss, we have been best friends since we lived together in Neutral Bay Sydney in the mid-1980s.”

He was a great actor, great singer and guitarist, he also played drums and sax. He has always loved performing in theatre, as well as film and television. He decided to buy a canal boat in London which he had set up beautifully with some recording equipment and was sending me guitar riffs recorded there to add backing to.
