An accident at a York County distillery injured three
FAIRVIEW TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (WHTM) — Three people were injured after an accident at a distillery inairview Township, York County onriday.
According to Ted Czech of the York County Office of Emergency Management, the accident occurred at Crostwater Distilled Spirits located on the 500 block of Industrial Drive. The call originally came as an explosion around 10:16 am
The Czech Republic also said York County and firefighting staff responded to the scene. There was no fire, but the building was evacuated.
According to the distillery, an equipment malfunction caused an unexpected pressurized release of a non-toxic, non-hazardous solution.
York County officials say there was a liquid substance inside the building that was 75% vinegar base acid that was released and contained within the building.
According to Brandonreestat, emergency management coordinator for the City ofairview and Northern York County, there are no health risks to the public. But, the air quality is monitored both indoors and outdoors as a precaution.
All three were slightly injured in the accident. The distillery says two employees have been discharged from the hospital and the facility has been returned to staff.
As of 1:18 p.m., all challengers have been cleared from the scene and cleanup crews have been called to repair the facility, according to a post from the York County Hazmat team.
“We thank the local first responders for their immediate concern for our employees, as the care and well-being of our employees is our number one priority,” the distillery said in a statement onriday.
