The magical gates were discovered behind Newton’s tomb and found in the trees.

Julie Barber, who lives near the woodland area, started painting doors and putting them up on trees for kids to spot during lockdown.

Before the pandemic, she had taken her grandchildren toairy Glen to take part in the fairy hunt, however, after lockdown, she decided to get creative and bring magic to the area.

Soon after fairy doors were placed around the area, Grandma Julie noticed that others had been inspired by her idea and that they had added more to the collection as well.

Julie said: “I started it during lockdown as I used to take my grandkids toairy Glen, but since we couldn’t go there I thought it would be good for the kids here to have something nice to do during those difficult times.

“Everybody then started putting up their own doors, which was great to see. I haven’t put any in a while, but I thought it would be nice to put up new ones now.”

“I just do it to make it fun for the kids when they’re out.

“My granddaughter loved going toairy Glen, so I wanted to make something like this for the local kids.”
