One injured after a boat explosion in Lancaster County

WASHINGTON Borough, Pennsylvania (WHTM) – A man was injured after a boat explosion occurred in Washington Borough, Lancaster County during the evening hours ofriday, March 17.

According to officials at Blue Rockire Rescue Station 907, The explosion occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the Susquehanna River along Water Street in the Washington Borough.

The crews managed to put out the fire and create an area to help suck any remaining fuel from the float downstream. According to officials, the crews were on site for two and a half to three hours.

One person sustained burns from the blast and was taken to a local hospital for his injuries, according to Blue Rockire Rescue. The cause of the accident is not yet known at this time.

The Pennsylvaniaish and Boat Commission is investigating the explosion at this time.
