Fans of The Voice Australia can expect fireworks from new coach Jason Derulo when the singing competition kicks off later this year.

The 33-year-old American pop star says he is out searching for the next global superstar.

And Jason has already sent a powerful message to co-stars Rita Ora, J Sebastian, and Jessica Mauboy.

“I’m super competitive, almost unhealthy competitive,” the cocky Talk Dirty singer said in an interview with Sunday Telegraph.

Jason has arrived at Channel 7 to replace crowd favorite Keith Urban, who left the show as a coach at the end of last season.

“I’m going to provide a global perspective,” Derulo said, explaining his game plan.

“Obviously they are musicians from Australia but the way the music industry has changed, there are no rules anymore.”

He said the contestants should not be labeled as future local stars.

“I think more than ever, the lines are blurring so there is an opportunity for a global star to emerge from this.”

Jason, who grew up inlorida, became a star in 2009 with his first single Whatcha Say which was a #1 hit in the US.

Since then, he has sold over 250 million singles worldwide including the hits Weigel, The Horns, and It Girl.
