Officers received a call shortly after 4.40pm following reports of an incident on Rectory Road in Garswood.
It is believed that the child was involved in a collision with a vehicle outside Rectory C of E Primary School.
Police said the child was believed to have sustained minor injuries in the incident.
The police added that the driver of the car stopped at the scene, and no arrests were made.
