Police have charged two men in connection with the murder of Ashley Dale.

At approximately 12.40am on Sunday 21 August, officers were called to an address in Leinster Road, Liverpool, following reports of concern for a woman on the property.

Emergency services turned up and found Ashley in the back garden with a gunshot wound to her body.

Ashley, a 28-year-old Environmental Health Officer on Knowsley Council, was taken to hospital but unfortunately passed away shortly afterwards.

Two men were re-arrested as part of the tragic case last night (Monday 30th January), and have now been charged on suspicion of murder.

The Crown Prosecution Service has authorized officers to charge James Witham, 40, of Ashbury Road, Huyton, and Joseph Beers, 28, of Woodlands Road, Robbie, with murder and willful possession of a firearm.

They have been placed on remand to appear at Wirral Adult Remand Court this morning, Tuesday 31st January.

A 25-year-old man from St Helens was also arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender, and remains in custody.

The man was arrested earlier as part of the investigation.
