Cold and more winter-like today and tomorrow

Even the coldestriday and Saturday…

Today: Mostly cloudy, cold. Hi 37. Wind: NW 5-15 mph.

Tonight: heavy snowfall. Lou 26.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy and cold. hello 36.

Let’s hope you had the chance to go out yesterday! What a day in late January! Temperatures climbed into the low to mid-50s, making for another well-above-average January day. In fact, the cold front is crossing this morning, producing some light rain and drizzle, which makes for a wet start. Still mild temperatures ahead, with some backyards in the mid-40s this morning. These temperatures will decrease throughout the day as the cold temperature drops over the area behind the cold front this afternoon.

Cooler and drier air settles in this afternoon, when temperatures will feel more like winter. Maybe the last day of January will really feel like it should? Afternoon temperatures will be in the 30s with overnight lows in the 20s tonight. A fast-moving wave may bring us more snow showers late into the night into Wednesday morning, but it won’t be much. The rest of the week looks dry. Keep in mind that the strong southern jet stream will take most of the storms/moisture south of the area for the rest of the week and into the next as well.

The models glisten in a snapshot of the arctic air as we head into next weekend. Highs byriday and Saturday will only be in the 20s with morning lows in the teens before temperatures pick back up by Sunday. The winds will be chills by Saturday morning below zero, but the cold air won’t linger, as it has for most of the winter so far. Highs will be back in the 40s by Sunday and could touch 50 degrees again by Monday. will keep you posted!
