Britney Spears asks her followers to ‘respect my privacy’ after obsessed fans called the police
Britney Spears asks her followers to ‘respect my privacy’ after ‘obsessed fans went too far’ and called the police for a welfare check after she deleted her Instagram
Britney Spears appeared to have had enough of an ardent fan in a statement she posted Thursday in response to a fan-raised police visit recently.
The 41-year-old pop icon – who recently shut down her Instagram page again – wrote on Twitter about her struggles with maintaining her privacy and complained that she felt “lit” and “harassed”.
Although she stressed that the police never “entered” her home and stayed at its gate, she said the situation went “a bit too far”.
Fans of the singer have recently expressed more concern than usual after she was apparently seen having a manic meltdown at a restaurant earlier this month with her husband, Sam Asghari, 28.
Quite a lot: Britney Spears, 41, begged her followers to “respect my privacy” after ardent fans called the police for a health check after she deleted her Instagram account; Seen in 2014
In contrast to her usual Instagram posts, Spears’ statement on Twitter was unusually sober and reserved.
She began, “As everyone knows, the police were called to my house based on some fake phone calls.” I love and adore my fans this time it went too far and my privacy was invaded.
She explained that “the police never entered my house” and apparently left shortly after arriving at the gate of her house after discovering “there was no problem”.
But the spat with law enforcement over the “fake phone calls” still left her stumped.
She continued, “I felt like I was gassed and bullied once the incident hit the news and again portrayed in a bad and unfair light by the media.”

Fearful reaction: Although she stressed that the police never “entered” her home and stayed at her gate, she said the situation went “a bit too far.”
