Trader Joe’s releases its annual list of shopper favorites, and new items take the top spot
(NEXSTAR) —or Trader Joe’s customers, Mandarin Orange Chicken has long been a hot item, ranking as a fan favorite in the retailer’s Customer Choice Awards time and time again. The frozen dish has held the title of favorite product overall for two years in a row, but this year the beloved chicken dish and four other items have been canceled.
Trader Joe’s has just released its 14th annual issue List of Customer Choice Awards On Monday, it showcased products its customers rated as top-notch across multiple categories, including beverages, cheese, and bath and body products.
If you’re a frequent Trader Joe’s shopper, you probably won’t be surprised by some of the items that appear regularly on the menu.
this year, Trader Joe’sive repeat winners have been retired, “making room for some other products to shine.” Instead, these items are placed in a file Producer Hall ofame: Mandarin Orange Chicken, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Peanut Butterilled Pretzel Bites, Unexpected Cheddar Cheese, and Soy Chorizo.
With these fan favorites out of the running for the year, Trader Joe’s fans are crowned with a new all-around new item: chili-lime corn tortilla chips, an improvement over last year’s second-place finish. Customers listed TJ’s Hashbrowns and Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings behind the “spicy little rolls.” as I did last yearEverything But The Sesame Bagel Seasoning Mix also landed among the contestants at number one overall.
Other beloved snacks—Elote’s Organic Corn Chip Dippers and Organic Corn Chip Dippers—retained the runner-up spot, with new snacks joining the list: World’s White Cheddar Puffed Corn Puffs and Crispy Curls.
Considered runner-up last year, the seasonal Sparkling Honeycrisp cider was declared the best drink. The non-dairy oat drink, despite being named the best on the 2022 list, wasn’t even a runner-up this year. Sparkling peach tea with peach juice is back on the menu after losing it last year, with non-dairy brown sugar oat creamer and seasonal drinks Triple Ginger Brew and Sparkling Cranberry & Ginger Beverage round out the category.
Without the unexpected cheddar in the cheese category, Trader Joe’s customers rated the cheddar with caramelized onions as the best option. Syrah Soaked Toscano was again runner-up. Without the Mandarin Orange Chicken, the Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice was rated as the best appetizer. Chicken tikka masala also landed on the list of fan favorites in this category.
The title of Best Home, Bath and Body Product has been held by scented candle tins, which vary by season. Previous runner-up Ultra-Moisturizing Hand Cream was again runner-up. In the candy/candy category, grab the cone! Mini ice cream cones stayed on top, followed by other favorites—Danish Kringle, Sublime Ice Cream Sandwiches, and Brookie—with chocolate lava cake replacing the dark chocolate peanut butter cups.
When it comes to produce, Trader Joe’s customers are sure of one thing – bananas and avocados are among the best. While Teeny Tiny Avocados won Best Produce last year, customers put bananas ahead this year. Multicolored organic carrots are also a carryover product, with two other products coming in as a close runner-up: Honeycrisp apples and Brussels sprouts.
Without the previous favorite Soy Chorizo available, customers rated Began Kale and Cashew & Basil Pesto as favorites in the vegetarian/vegan category. Meatless bulgogi, palak paneer, and cauliflower gnocchi round out this category.
