Safety concerns were raised about an abandoned building after children were spotted entering the decaying site.
Two youths were seen playing in the old Tory Club building in Earl Street, Earlstown, earlier this month, sparking fears among local residents.
Newton-le-Willows Western Council member Terry Maguire took up the issue after he was approached by concerned residents.

This issue is believed to have since been resolved.
Cllr Maguire said: “I knew the old Tory Club building in Earl St was very dangerous.
“The worrying thing seems to be that young people congregate at night at the back of the building, and this puts them at great risk because the building is in a very dangerous condition.
“I have informed the council and the police of this.
“Thanks to John at the council building management for helping him with this matter, he has sent a team to secure the back gates.”
