A man has been arrested on suspicion of rape after an incident on Parr Stocks Road.

A 42-year-old man from St. Helens was arrested yesterday, Tuesday 24 January, and remains in detention.

The arrest is related to a report released on Saturday, January 14th.

Police received a report that a woman was walking home on Parr Stocks Road at approximately 9:15pm when a man approached her.

She was taken to a grassy area between the fire station and Discount Motor Parts, where the alleged crime occurred.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Barry said: “Although we have made an arrest, we are still appealing for information to assist our investigation.

“We understand the concern such serious crimes cause in society and I want to assure people that we are assessing all possible evidence to determine what happened.

“I will continue to ask anyone who lives locally and has home CCTV or doorbell footage to check their equipment between 9 and 9:30pm on Saturday January 14th.

Similarly, if you are traveling in a vehicle that has a dashcam, please check.

“Parr Stocks Street is crowded with cars and public transportation, so any of the bus or taxi riders might have seen something of value, too.”
