irefighters rushed to put out a blaze while a car was engulfed in flames.

The crew attended High Street Bar,ingerpost, at approximately 10.45am this morning, Tuesday, 24th January.

The car was found to be “well lit” when firefighters arrived and crews put out the flames using a hose reel.

Police also attended the scene and a road was closed in the area as emergency services dealt with the fire.

Aire and Rescue Service spokesman said there were no injuries.

A Merseysideire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews were called to a vehicle fire in Higher Bar Street, St Helens this morning.

“The crew was alerted at 10.40am and on the scene at 10.45am. There was one fire engine in attendance.

“Firefighters arrived to find a burning car in the well and began fighting the fire wearing breathing apparatus, with a high-pressure hose reel.

Crew quickly put out the fire and made the car safe before leaving the scene in the hands of Merseyside Police at 11.27am.

“No one was hurt in the accident.”

A Merseyside Police spokesperson added: “We received a report of a car on fire on Park Road at approximately 10.35am this morning (Tuesday 24 January).

“A lane where the incident was dealt with was closed and the car was removed at approximately 11.50am.”
