Clouds over sun today, snowfall and rain Sunday
No expected effects of travel with minimal accumulation…
Today: more clouds than sun. Hi 42. Wind: NW 5-15 mph.
Tonight: Mostly clear, calm. Lo 28.
Sunday: snow/rain in the evening. Hi 42. Wind: SE 10-15 mph.
Today will be cloudy but dry with temperatures approaching the low 40s this afternoon. Clouds kept temperatures from dropping much overnight so we will be above average again. As the skies clear up later in the day, tonight’s lows should drop into highs of 20°/near 30°. The next system will begin to propagate into the clouds late at night.
Recent trends have been for a warmer solution. Snow showers will move in Sunday afternoon but for most areas south of I-81, we expect a fairly quick transition to mainly showers. The snow will stay longer north and west of Harrisburg, but even for the colder areas, we don’t expect the snow to last long. Showers likely to return to a brief period of snow showers first thing Monday morning but with temperatures above freezing, no impacts to travel are expected. This system exits on Monday morning with mostly cloudy and breezy afternoons.
Another system appears for Wednesday. This one could have a bit of cold air to work with which means we start as a steady snow period Wednesday morning. We should move to all rain by midday even though the warm air is blowing north again. Behind the storm, temperatures approach seasonal averages next weekend with a cold swing throughriday. Winter is finally waking up, but there’s no big snow on the horizon yet!
