The prospective tenant is in negotiations to become an occupant of one of the largest pubs in St Helens, the star understands.

The former JD Wetherspoon Running Horses pub in downtown St Helens closed in November 2021.

It was also fronted by Chicago Rock between 2001 and 2009.

The venue on Chalon Way – part of the entertainment complex which includes the Cineworld cinema – has been announced by joint estate agents CBRE and Savilles.

Star is assured that the property is now “on offer” with negotiations continuing.

A potential tenant has not been named, however, it is understood they are a pub chain keen to breathe new life into the vacant space.

The property has a building permit allowing alcohol to be sold until 3am between Sunday and Thursday and until 3:30am onriday and Saturday.

The occupant of the place could give a shot in the arm to the night economy in downtown St Helens which has been plagued by struggles since the start of the covid pandemic.
