Sequel rumours: Vaughn confirmed interest in doing a sequel to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story last month, but only “if it feels right and funny” (pictured December 2022)
The appearance of the family in the game is a rare getaway for the always busy star interested in developing the highly anticipated sequel.
During last month’s premiere of the new comedy Christmas With The Campbells, which Vaughn co-wrote and produced, he confirmed his and Ben Stiller’s interest in a follow-up to Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, as long as it includes quality material.
“They always talked about this stuff forever and I had a fun idea and the studio loved it, so we’ll see where it goes,” said Vaughn. Hollywood Reporter.
Misfits: In the original film, written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the story follows a group of misfits who enter a dodgeball tournament in Las Vegas to save their local gym from the onslaught of a corporate healthy fitness chain.
Another interested star: Vaughn, who played Average Joe’s club owner Pete Lafleur, shared that Stiller is interested in reprising his role as White Goodman, the Globo Gym owner who tries to buy Average Joe’s, but only if there’s a funny and original script.

‘I think Ben [Stiller] Open to doing that, I think he’s in the same boat as me actually, if it’s a really fun and cool idea, then that’s fun, but if it’s just something to do again, why? Vaughn explained.
