Apple wakes up the HomePod Mini’s dormant temperature and humidity sensor

Apple’s HomePod Mini smart speaker will gain some new skills when a software update triggers a temperature and humidity sensor that’s been sleeping.

Newly incorporated temperature and humidity sensor in HomePod Mini Product Description on the Apple site. The news comes on the same day as Apple’s Introduced the second generation HomePodwhich will also contain a temperature and humidity sensor.

“A new built-in temperature and humidity sensor can measure indoor environments, so users can create automations that automatically close curtains or turn on a fan when a certain room temperature is reached,” Apple said on Wednesday. The release of the new HomePod.

sensor Spotted on HomePod Minis in 2021, potentially allowing a smaller smart speaker with the same capability. The sensor works best indoors between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius (59 to 86) and when the humidity is between 30% and 70%, Apple says on its website.
