Jennifer Lopez opens up about the “emotional process” of blending families with Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez opened up about the “emotional transformation” of blending families with husband Ben Affleck on Monday.

During an appearance on TODAY to promote her new movie Shotgun Wedding, the 53-year-old star gave a glimpse into the process of bringing her 14-year-old twins, Amy and Max, together with Affleck’s three children: Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 10.

Lopez — who also called the 50-year-old Oscar winner a “dream” and “sweetheart” — went on to declare 2022 an “extraordinary year” for their A-list brood.

Sitting next to her Shotgun Wedding co-star Josh Duhamel, 50, Jenny from The Block talked about the process of merging five children under one roof.

We moved in together. Lopez explained that the children had moved in together. “It was kind of a really emotional transformation, but at the same time all your dreams come true.”

Lopez shares twins with ex-husband, Marc Anthony, 54, while Affleck shares three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 50.

The couple’s fairytale union was solidified six months ago when they finally tied the knot in July — nearly two decades after their first engagement ended in a tabloid feast.

Best year ever:

“I love Ben too,” said Duhamel, who then looked at Jennifer jokingly, “I’ve probably loved him longer than you have.”

“I bet you have,” Lopez laughed. “He’s a dreamer, I see.”

Affleck Lovefest followed, with Josh calling the Gone Girl star a “Dreamboat” and praising his talent before Jennifer baptized her husband as “Sweetheart”.

But the Marry Me star’s appearance on Today was hardly the first time she had opened up about married life with Affleck.

In an interview with Vogue magazine In December, Ben’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner hailed her as “an amazing parent,” noting that Garner and Affleck are “doing really well.”

Touching on the emotional time period of adolescence, Lopez talked about using a sensitive hand when bringing teens together.

“Transition is a process that must be approached with great care,” she said. They have a lot of feelings. They are teenagers. But it’s going really well so far.

The Wedding Planner star went on to say, “What I hope to grow with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him, someone who really loves and cares about them but could have a new ally.” A different perspective and helped me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m emotionally limited.
