The Hershey Bears are retiring Chris Bourque’s jersey number

Hershey, Pennsylvania (WHTM) — The Hershey Bears honored one of the greatest players to ever donned chocolate and white Saturday night when they retired Chris Bourque’s jersey number.

The Bears hoisted Borque’s No. 17 jersey to the rafters at Giant Center, only the eighth Hershey player ever to have it retired.

Borque played a total of nine seasons with Hershey and is the only person in program history to win three Calder Cups as a player. In his near decade with the Bears, Borque played in 604 regular season games, scored 196 goals, and totaled 586 points. He also appeared in 106 playoff games and is named to an all-time team record.

Hershey Bourque honored before his game against the Springfield Thunderbirds and cruised to a 6-2 win, marking the 500th career win for head coach Todd Nelson.
