Died 19 years after filming in Pennsylvania Cinema: PSP

HAZLE TOWNSHIP, Pennsylvania (WHTM) – A person has died after shooting at a movie theater in Hazel Township, Luzerne County during the evening hours of Saturday, January 14.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP), troops were dispatched at approximately 8:15 p.m. to the Regal Cinemas, located at 400 Laurel Mall Drive in Hazle Township to obtain a report of the shooting. Through an investigation, it was found that a 19-year-old was shot in the cinema lobby. The shooter fled the scene shortly thereafter.

On Sunday, January 15, the PSP reported that the victim, identified as Luis Manuel Luna of Hazelton, died of injuries he sustained from the crash.

The PSP stated that although the shooting occurred in a public place where people were in immediate danger, the shooting itself was considered an isolated incident where the victim was targeted by the shooter.

There is no word on whether any suspects have been arrested in connection with this incident at this time. The case is now being investigated as a murder.

PSP said the investigation is still active by the Troop N Major Case Team. Updated information will be posted as it becomes available so as not to jeopardize the integrity of the investigation.
