The couple are looking to “breathe new life” into a country pub after taking over.

The Red Cat, in Crank, has undergone a “complete refurbishment” and is back in business serving its “traditional home cooked food”.

Samantha and Chris Pennington, who also own the Stanley Arms, on Gillars Lane, have outlined their ambitions to restore the Red Cat as a central part of the community.

The well-liked pub, located in the rural setting of Crank, reopened in November serving drinks only.

After a soft opening on Thursday evening, January 12, the Red Cat Lane establishment has officially relaunched its full menu, effectiveriday.

We are here to breathe new life into this historic pub.

“The locals, they call themselves ‘Cranky’ and the pub is a big part of their lives, so they can meet here.”

Samantha says locals have reported seeing people they haven’t spoken to in about a year because the pub wasn’t open.

“We want to bring back the regulars and welcome new people, families and anyone who wants to come back.”

Samantha, 49, whose mom bought the Stanley Arms in 1996, took over in 2009.

While still devoted to Stanley, Samantha and Chris’s husband of 12 months, are excited to take on their new venture at The Red Cat.

She said that people can expect “traditional home cooked” food.

Meanwhile, you’d expect the Snug District, near the bar, to be a ‘popular’ area, with its own beer garden for when the sunnier weather hits.

There are plans to hold live music evenings at The Red Cat every weekend, alternating betweenridays and Saturdays, and to launch a quiz night.

The Punch-owned pub also has two rooms, each with a capacity of 30 (60 generally) which can cater for family functions such as small weddings, funeral wakes and baby showers.

The pub will be showing Sky Sports in its bar area and will serve food from noon to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm from Tuesday to Saturday, and Sunday lunches from noon to 7pm.
