Students have promised the Obi-Datti Network (SON) to muster at least 10 million votes for the Labor Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi before the 2023 election.ion.
newsonline Reports indicate that the Student Network, consisting of Student Union governments, departments, and student bodies in all universities, technical institutes, colleges of education and other higher institutions in the five states of the Southeast.
Son made the promise while inaugurating the executive members of the Southeast Region and States District in Oka, the capital of Anambra state.
SON University Coordinator, Comrade Kenneth Okeke revealed that the student structure comprises of current and former Student Executives and Youth Leaders from various departments and colleges on campus, Students Union Government (SUG), National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), and Patriotic Youth. Council of Nigeria (NYCN), NAPS, NACES and NYP.
He added that student and youth leadership from religious organizations such as CYON, Anglican Youthellowship, Bible Unions, Pentecostal Studentellowship, Muslim Studentellowship and student leadership of Club and Volunteers organizations—Kegite, Rotracts, Environmental Union—are members of SON.
The inauguration attracted students from universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other higher education institutions across the region’s five states; Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia, and Ebonyi.
Okeke said, “Obey students are 100 percent ready to muster 10 million votes from the SON structure across geopolitical regions, states, local government areas, divisions, and at the polling unit level.
“We stand ready to deepen the dialogue on the domestication, prevalence and penetration of SON, in higher education institutions through voter education, booth-to-booth mobilization; outreach and outreach campaign in all polling units on and around campuses across the country.
“Our determination to support Obi Dati’s agenda stems from the coherence between his words and his precedent during his tenure as Governor of Anambra State and his intellectual inclination towards the challenges facing Nigeria.”
The SON cordinator also revealed that the purpose of establishing SON throughout the federation states and school campuses is to have foot soldiers spreading the message of hope and redemption that Peter Obi and Datti-Ahmed stand for.
