Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp has finally opened up about her silence in Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against “Aquaman” star Amber Heard. Why was Lily-Rose Depp silent during the trial?
If you’ve noticed Johnny Depp’s defamation trial, you may be aware that Lily-Rose Depp was the only person who remained silent throughout the trial. Even after Johnny won, the 23-year-old child star didn’t come forward for a single interview, and fans always wondered why?
Well, Lilly has come forward and defended her reasons in the December 2022/January 2023 issue of ELLE magazine, saying she has maintained her silence throughout the trial, and plans to keep it that way. Lily Rose Depp said:
“When it’s something so private and personal that it suddenly becomes very impersonal… I really feel entitled to my secret garden of thoughts. I also think I’m not here to answer for anyone, and I feel like for a lot of my career people have really wanted to define me.” Through the men in my life, whether it’s my family or my friends, whoever it is. And I’m really ready to be specific about the things that I put out there.”
Lilly is defined by her own merits …
Lily indicated that she was not here to answer for anyone, and stated that she wanted to be defined on her own merits. She even clapped back at people who really wanted to be defined by the men in her life, “whether it’s my family or my friends, whatever.” “I’m really ready to be aware of the things I put out there,” she explained.
Previously, Lily was criticized for not speaking during the trial, but she always had the support of her fans. “She doesn’t owe you anything and you don’t need to do anything…stop pestering her,” one Instagram user wrote in May. Another added, “ignore the love hate…not everything has to be public.”
Lily, who is the daughter of Johnny and Vanessa Paradis, also opened up about her upbringing by her parents. She noted that her childhood wasn’t like everyone else’s and “It’s a very private thing to deal with, but it’s the only thing I know”. She added that her parents tried to protect their children from all negativity. I was just raised in a way that taught me that privacy is an important thing to protect.”
To refresh your memories, Johnny Depp, who emerged victorious in his six-week defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, was the subject of major controversy earlier in October. A leaked and unsigned court document revealed that Johnny Depp, 59, refused to investigate the rape of his then young daughter Lily-Rose Depp, and was expelled for allowing a legal rapist to walk free.
However, Lily previously wrote of her father: “Dad is the sweetest, most loving person I know. He was nothing but an amazing father to my little brother and me, and everyone who knew him would say the same.” In the last interview, Lilly didn’t go into detail about it in her last interview, but hinted obliquely that people wanted to “introduce her to the men” she was around.
But one thing is clear, Johnny’s kids were right on his side through the entire trial. But the controversy last month begs one question if it only went to Lily. Was he protecting her, or was he just trying to save his own reputation? Well, we never know. what do you think?
