Kevin Spacey: The actor faces charges of other sex crimes

House of Cards and American Beauty actor Kevin Spacey is scheduled to go to trial next year

The British Public Prosecution Service said that Kevin Spacey will be charged with other sexual offenses against one man. Prosecutors say seven new charges have been brought against the 63-year-old – three of indecent assault, three of sexual assault and one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without their consent.

The most recent charges allegedly occurred between 2001 and 2004. “CPS authorized additional criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 63, for a number of sexual assaults against a single man between 2001 and 2004,” said Rosemary Ainslie, CPS Chief of Special Crimes.

“The Crown Prosecution Service has also authorized one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without their consent. The power to charge comes after a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police in their investigation. The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr Spacey are active and that he has the right to fair trial.”

At the conclusion of his appearance at the Old Bailey earlier this year, Spacey was granted unconditional bail until another hearing scheduled for next year.

When will Spacey go to trial?

The five alleged crimes he has already denied reportedly took place in London and Gloucestershire between 2005 and 2013, at the time Spacey was artistic director of The Old Vic theater in London.

Wall Justice has set the trial for three to four weeks from June 6 of next year. The House Of Cards star has an address in Waterloo, south London, but also lives in the US, where he has a family and a dog.

CPS authorized seven other charges against Kevin Spacey.

At a preliminary hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court in June, Spacey’s solicitor, Patrick Gibbs QC, said his client “vehemently denies any wrongdoing in this case”.

Gibbs said Spacey had returned to the UK to “prove his innocence” and “move on with his life”. A two-time Academy Award winner, Spacey is best known for starring in American Beauty and The Usual Suspects. He was the technical director at The Old Vic between 2004 and 2015.
