A screenshot of Kathy Griffin’s tweet has gone viral on Twitter. The tweet reads: “After a heated discussion with the females in my life. I have decided that voting blue for their choice is just right.” When talking about the hashtag, she wrote – “Vote blue to protect women.”

The suspension of Kathy Griffin’s Twitter account caused quite a stir on social media. Many people came forward and accused Elon Musk of suppressing freedom of expression. While responding to a Twitter post, the Tesla CEO and new head of Twitter said, “In fact, she has been suspended for impersonating a comedian.”

In a separate tweet, Musk stated that comedian Kathy Griffin can get her Twitter account back if she pays the $8 (blue retail fee). In a follow-up tweet, Elon wrote: “But if she really wants to get her account back, she can get it for $8.”

Elon Musk issues a warning to all Twitter users ‘engaged in impersonation’

Elon Musk also issued a statement warning all Twitter users to “engage in impersonation.” He tweeted, “From now on, any Twitter interaction that engages in impersonation without selecting ‘parody’ will be permanently suspended.”

In another tweet, the Tesla CEO also said: “Previously, we issued a warning before suspending, but now that we’re starting to check extensively, there will be no warning. This will be clearly defined as a requirement to sign up for Twitter Blue.” He further added, “Any change in the name whatsoever will result in a temporary loss of the validated check mark.”

In a follow-up tweet, Musk wrote, “Broad verification will democratize journalism and empower the people’s voice.” He continued: “Twitter needs to become by far the most accurate source of information around the world. This is our mission.”

Twitter’s blue tick fee is the first major change that has occurred since Elon Musk took over the social media platform.
