V/H/S/99 End, explanation – Cinemagolic
Shudder’s ‘V/H/S/99’ is a found footage horror film presented in an anthology format. This is the fifth installment in the ‘V/H/S’ film series and consists of five individual short segments, each with a unique and terrifying experience. The short films are directed by Johannes Roberts, Vanessa & Joseph Winter, Maggie Levin, Tyler MacIntyre andlying Lotus.
The film is about a VHS tape owned by a teenager in 1999 that contains footage of various paranormal events. Therefore, the audience must look for an explanation for the bloody, violent and psychologically distorted events in the film. In that case, here’s everything you need to know about the ending of ‘V/H/S/99’. SPOILERS AHEAD!
The first short in the film is called ‘Shredding’ and is directed by Maggie Levin. It follows Rachel, Ankur, Chris and Caleb, who together are known as the RACK punk rock and prank group. or their next video, the band decides to check out an urban legend about the band Bitch Cat dying under mysterious circumstances in an underground space. Rumor has it that the band members were trampled to death by fans after the fire broke out. The location has since been abandoned and is believed to be haunted.
The end of fragmentation: what happens to RACK?
In the film, the members of RACK come to investigate the place where members of Bitch Cat died several years ago. They have all heard amazing stories about the place and want to see if the spirit of the band still lives inside the place. However, in keeping with their usual gaming tendencies, the group begins to trick and torment Ankur, who is afraid of ghosts. Soon, RACK gets ready for the main event of the night and plays one of Bitch Cat’s songs where he died.
The band members pretend to be teasing during the performance, scaring Ankur who gets annoyed by their jokes and leaves. However, the specter of the Bitch Cat members soon emerges and slowly hunts down RACK. Rachel, Ankur, Chris and Caleb are killed one by one for publicly insulting Bitch Cat and making fun of their music. Ultimately, the band’s story speaks to the content race taking place in the new millennium, as teenagers continue to perform such risky endowments in pursuit of social media fame. Unfortunately for RACK, their quest leads them straight to their deaths.
The second story “Suicide Proposal” was directed by Johannes Roberts. It revolves around Lily, a college freshman who wants to join the most prestigious sorority on her college campus. After submitting a video application to a sorority led by a group of mean girls, Lily is called in for an interview. Before the girls accept Lily into her sorority, she must perform a feat. The girls invite Lily to spend the night in the coffin. The assignment originates from a student named Giltine, who was delivered with the same bravery and mysteriously disappeared. Lily reluctantly agrees to take on the task, which turns out to be a way for the sorority girls to smoke the new girl.
The end of the suicide bid: Is Lily dead? Is the legend of Giltine real?
After spending some time inside the casket, Lily becomes frightened and gives up on the challenge. But before the girls can subdue him, Giltine attacks Lily. Gilt’s legend is proven true, and he continues to wander the cemetery, looking for a friend. He turns Lily into a demonic being like him and causes Lily to die.
Meanwhile, the sorority girls return for Lily, only to find her coffin empty. That’s why they make a pact never to talk about the incident. In the end, the sorority girls find themselves buried in coffins like Lily. The girls are tormented by Lily, who explains that she is Gilt’s friend, and the two form their own sorority out of dead girls. As a result, Lily promised Giltine to add more members to their ranks. And so the short ends with Lily exacting her revenge on the sorority girls, subjecting them to the same hideous fate she suffered.
The third segment piloted bylying Lotus is called ‘Ozzy’s Dungeon’. It revolves around the fictional game show of the same name, which promises to grant the winning child’s wish. But to get their wish granted by the mysterious Ozzy, the kids must compete in increasingly difficult and dangerous obstacle courses. One contestant, Donna, comes close to winning the game, but is seriously injured in the final round. A few years later, Donna’s family kidnaps the host of the show in revenge.
The End of Ozzy’s Dungeon: What’s Donna’s Dream?
Realizing that his life is in danger, the host agrees to let the family do their bidding. The host explains that Ozzy is there and not a fake created by the show. He takes the family to the old set of the show. The group enters the cave through the door that leads them to the dungeon. Inside, a fat man sleeps while several servants tend to him. That person turns out to be Ozzy, and the host asks him to grant Donna’s wish.
Earlier in the segment, game show contestants share their wishes. But before we hear Donna’s wish, the show cuts to commercials. We learn from her family that Donna wanted to be a movie superstar. However, that dream ended with a game show injury that left one of his legs brutally disfigured. Donna whispers her wish to Ozzy and a Lovecraftian creature bursts out of Ozzy’s stomach. The creature leaves the host’s faces, and Donna’s family is disfigured in a similar way to her leg. As everyone screams, Donna smiles and the footage ends. So the ending implies that Donna’s family looked down on her after the injury and she willingly harmed them.
It is the fourth segment of the horror film ‘The Gawkers’ directed by Tyler MacIntyre. It tells the story of Brady, a teenager who makes stop-motion animation that we see between segments. Brady’s camera is shot by his older brother Dylan. Dylan and his friends Kurt and Boner use the camera to spy on girls and make naughty videos. Meanwhile, a young woman moves in next door and the trio spy on her. When Brady manages to befriend a woman named Sandra, the trio encourages him to install spyware on his webcam. But the group soon realizes that Sandra is hiding a dark secret.
Gawkers End: What’s Sandra’s Secret?
Sandra is an extremely attractive young woman who is Brady and Dylan’s new neighbor. Dylan and his friends spy on Sandra and start acting more and more creepy. But if they install spyware with Brady’s help, Sandra’s wish to see her naked is about to be fulfilled. After Sandra undresses, the boys get excited and watch her from their computers.
But Sandra soon begins to turn into a monster. Green stems sprout from his head and turn into a snake. He then attacks the teenagers and brutally kills them. inally, Brady and Dylan try to confront Sandra, but are turned to stone. With Dylan and Brady, the short ends turn into statues, revealing that Sandra is actually a modern incarnation of the Greek goddess Medusa. So the segment uses a classical Greek legend to interpret disorder at the turn of the century with the help of modern videography technology and the advent of the internet.
To Hell And Back
The fifth and final segment is titled “To Hell and Back” and is directed by Vanessa and Joseph Winter. The story revolves around best friends Troy and Nate. They are professional videographers hired by a cult on the eve of Y2K. The cult prepares to conduct a ritual to summon their lord, Ukabo, from Hell to the human world. However, during the ritual, Troy and Nate are accidentally transported to Hell, where they must fight to survive. In the process, they meet Mabel, who helps them fight the demons of Hell, but has a plan of her own.
End of Hell and Back: Do Troy and Nate escape Hell? What happens to Mabel?
The brief finds Troy and Nate trapped in Hell after a ritual to summon Ukabo. In Hell, the duo are quickly attacked by several demons. But they are saved by a witch named Mabel. He is strong and knows the weaknesses of monsters. Moreover, Mabel hates Ukabo and agrees to help Troy and Nate return to the human world on the condition that they write their names in the Book of Witches. Troy and Nate must reach the portal in Ukabo’s hideout before midnight and return to Earth.
Eventually, Troy and Nate fight through the demons with Mabel’s help and reach Ukabo’s lair. Mabel holds the minions while Troy and Nate escape through the portal and return to the human world. Meanwhile, the cultists realize that Troy and Nate are still alive, indicating that the group deliberately sent them to Hell as sacrifices to Ukabo. In the end, the cultists brutally murder Troy and Nate, but not before the friends put Mabel’s name in the book. During the credits, the cultists are heard chanting Mabel’s name, signaling that she has replaced Ukabo.
