Bleach: The Thousand Year Blood War Episode 2 Summary

After Lüders cuts offridge’s arm, Yhwach asks him for his report on the recent events. When he learns Luders made a mistake in judgment after infiltrating Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryuusai’s office and giving him an ultimatum for war, Yhwach doesn’t think twice before killing him. He then turns his attention to Asguiaro Ebern, telling him that while he was able to keep Ichigo at bay, he is now done. Before Ebern can work out what Yhwach has in mind, he suffers the same fate as Luders.

Meanwhile, Yuki receives a phone call from the Research and Development Department’s Control Room. Ichigo was now back in the room as well and it was revealed to everyone that 7 unknowns had managed to infiltrate the 1st Squad’s office and although the captain was safe, one staff member was reportedly killed. Around the same time, an attacker killed 116 crew members along with Lieutenant Sasakibe at the Kokuryo Gate. However, the investigation is still ongoing to find out how the office of the No. 1 gang infiltrated.

The latest development naturally worries Ichigo and his friends, who are as clueless as anyone about the true motives behind such a coordinated attack. While Lieutenant Sasakibe is being assigned to the ground, Nel meets with Ichigo and asks for help. He tells Ichigo about the recent attack on Hueco Mundo and the kidnapping of Tier Harribel, who rules the home of Hollows and Arrancars after the deaths of Lord Barrangan and Lord Stark. When Ichigo is asked for help, he doesn’t think twice before saying yes.

However, Ishida immediately clarifies his position by refusing to go to Hueco Mundo with the others. As Ichigo already expected, he claims to be the Quincy expected to destroy the Hollows. Without questioning Ishida’s decision, Ichigo visits Hueco Mundo with his friends and finally sees the extent of the death and destruction there. Meanwhile, Quincy Captain Quilge gathered some of the survivors of the genocide in Hueco Mundo and began killing some of them.

After killing most of the Arrancar he had lined up after the genocide in Hueco Mundo, Quilge encounters Lord Aizen’s assistants Loly Aiyerrne and Manoly Mallia. Although Quilge felt that no one in Hueco Mundo deserved to be spared, he was ordered to return with anyone brave enough to fight back. Therefore, he tells his soldiers to torture Ayyerrne and Malliya as much as they want. But he asks them to ensure they don’t die in the process. However, before his men could reach them, Quilge had already wounded them so that they fell to the ground and slept.

As he walks away, Quilge stops when he hears a commotion behind him. He suddenly sees his soldiers dropping like flies, and it is revealed that the third Espada, Tres Bestias of Tier Harribel, has finally arrived. Cyan Sung-Sun, Emilou Apacci, andrancesca Mila tell Rose Quilge that the quincies may have taken Harribel in their absence, but now that they’re here, Hueco Mundo’s enemies stand a chance. The captain is barely afraid of their warning and allows his man to deal with the trio.

Meanwhile, Nel also realizes that the Tres Bestias have finally appeared and to his excitement claims that Ichigo no longer needs to worry as they will easily take care of the invaders. Although the trio overwhelms Quilge’s men, when they finally fight him, they experience the true powers of the Quincy captain. When Ichigo arrives at the battlefield, he finds Cyan Sung-Sun, Emilou Apacci, andrancesca Mila Rose lying motionless on the ground, while Quilge looks behind him.

Although the Tres Bestias appear to be dead, Tite Kubo’s manga series, which served as the inspiration for the anime, makes it clear that they are not only alive, but that the battle in Hueco Mundo is far from over. But viewers will have to wait for the upcoming episode to find out how the story unfolds.
