Newsonline previously reported how Rivers Governor Nisom Waik accused Ayo of taking the aforementioned N1 billion from an unnamed student shortly before the PDP presidential primary.

The governor also accused the HDP chief of charging N100 million twice to renovate a new office of the People’s Democratic Institute (PDI), a think tank of the HDP onriday.

According to the governor, Ayu collected the first N100 million from an unnamed PDP governor and is still raising another N100 million from the National PDP Working Committee (NWC) for the same purpose.

But responding to the Governor Rivers’ accusations for the first time, Ayew said N1 billion was a bank loan proposal that the party wanted to get from a friendly commercial bank.

But he said the party abandoned the idea after due consultations.

For the NDI 100 million, Ayu acknowledged that the governor of the PDP had already made a donation to the party for the purpose of renovating the NDI office spaces.

According to him, the donation was used for the purpose for which it was given and the party did not even fully exhaust the funds for the replenishment.

However, the party chief denied collecting another 100 million NWCs from the NWC for the same purpose, saying the Rivers governor’s claim was not true.
