Balenciaga launches Lay’s Potato Chips leather bags for $1800

How much are you willing to spend on a bag of potato chips? Apparently Balenciaga wants you to spend over a thousand dollars to buy a handbag for Lay’s Potato Chips, her latest product and an unusual one.

The luxury Spanish fashion house has launched a leather bag in partnership with PepsiCo, which features Lay’s foil bag design. While potato chips cost $4 a bag, leather clutches sell for a whopping $1,800 a piece. Read on to find out more about Balenciaga’s latest luxury products.

Balenciaga launched Lay’s Chips handbag for $1800

The handbag was created by creative director Dimina. eatures classic foil bag graphics and a metallic silver lining on top with a zip. The Balenciaga brand also appears on the front.

The product was first seen at Parisashion Week during the summer 2023 presentation of the brand ‘The Mud Show’, but went unnoticed at the time as the models gripped the bag tightly as they walked down the mud ramp.

Then, Dima gave customers a closer look at the bag by posting a photo of her on Instagram with the caption, “Lay’s x Balenciagaoil Leather Bag.” Lay’s also posted photos of the runway on their social media handle. Dima was seen carrying the bag when he appeared at a postgraduate exhibition at the Royal Academy ofine Arts in Antwerp last week.

The bag comes in four different colors: green, blue, red, and yellow, and they represent the four different flavors of the chip brand: lemon, hot flamin, original, and salt and vinegar. Social media users previously noticed similar design bags on AliExpress, but it remains unclear if these designs inspired the Balenciaga shows.

Customers have mixed feelings about the product

Social media seemed divided over how they felt about Lay’s handbag. Some criticized Balenciaga for the product, with one user tweeting, “Balenciaga released a [Lay’s] Quite possibly the most ridiculous, confusing, confusing, astounding, astounding, paradoxical, extremely confusing, utterly confusing thing I’ve seen this year.”

“Why is Balenciaga taken so seriously as a brand and who creates these things? Last week it was mud fashion shows and now potato chips handbags. Balenciaga previously launched trash bags for $1,790

This isn’t the first time the luxury brand has made headlines for its exotic product choices and exorbitant prices. Just two months ago, Balenciaga started selling trash bags for $1,790.

The bag was created again by Demma, who said, “I can’t miss the chance to make the most expensive trash bag in the world, because who doesn’t love a fashion scandal?” Fans are now comparing Lay’s bag to branded trash bags, saying, “That’s up there with their trash bags. At this point, they’re trolling everyone, right?!”
